NATO not a fan of Hagelin cipher machines

Interesting report from the NATO online archive:

  1. Great find on Hagelin assesment. If you have the inherent problems of secure pin and lug settings and message keying, the C machines basically producing a stream cipher, and add the fact that our friend Boris agreed upon NSA writing the operator manual, and the keying and message procedures, then it's no surprise that they questioned the security of these machines.
